The Daily Mail, Independent and Times all report towering footwear is the way forward among the fashion elite for the rest of 2008.

Designer Rupert Sanderson tells the latter newspaper: "The simple fact is that heels just look sexier, stronger and more arresting the higher they are. Technically, the skys the limit."

Christian Louboutin certainly seems to have taken this ethic to heart by recently revealing an autumn/winter range boasting a heel reach of 14 cm – practically stilts!
