Actress Helen Mirren showed it pays to age gracefully this week by claiming top spot in a Vanity Fair list of stylish celebs.

The Queen star was hailed for her unerringly good dress sense and excellent choice of shoes, pipping a plethora of younger models to the post.

Among these were Angelina Jolie in second place and new French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.

The mens list meanwhile threw up a surprise winner in Blood Diamond actor Djimon Hounsou, who left Bond star Daniel Craig brushing down his black tux in the number two spot ahead of Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt.

However, the latter reclaimed some dress dignity by leading the field with his glamorous girlfriend in the couple category.

Its not the first time Helen Mirren has hit fashion headlines this month after pictures of the 63-year-old in a red bikini taking a dip in the Adriatic sparked an outpouring of praise and envy.
