With the opening ceremony just days away, nows the time to step up efforts to celebrate in style.

Sportswear giants Nike, Adidas and Reebok are all clamouring for a podium position in the fashion race with new trainer ranges toasting the Beijing event, reports SheKnows.com.

Nikes Huarache pair takes its inspiration from the Chinese capitals wacky Birds Nest Stadium, while the Dunk Gyrizo BMX pack includes four further sets of Oympic footwear – from a patriotic red, white and blue shoe to others that feature Chinese colours and symbols.

Meanwhile Adidas opts for retro style with a re-release of the Olympic 1988 (Seoul, South Korea) sneaker featuring a simple colour scheme and distinctive shape.

For Reebok, its all about the present with the companys Hexride shoe paying homage to Chinese and Houston Rockets basketball star Yao Ming – one of the most talked about athletes going into the Beijing games.

In other sports shoe news, the Times reports Dr Martin Perry, a sports psychologist, has discovered footballers choice of boot colour reflects their style on the pitch.
