American teen strides forth for charity
A 19-year-old in America is urging people across the globe to follow in his footsteps in raising money for people who cant afford shoes.
Dashiel Alsup, who hails from Colorado, has so far covered 1,600 miles of the American West on barefoot to publicise the work of Soles4Souls, reports PR Newswire.
The international charitys mission is to provide free footwear to those in need, and Dashiel insists their work is enormously important.
He tells the news source: "Its something I hadnt heard of anyone doing and I wanted everyone to know about the good things that Soles4Souls is doing around the world.
"It kind of made sense to do it without shoes, and I thought it would catch the attention of people passing by and I could explain the charitys goals."
He is expected to finish his uncomfortable trek in Florida by December.
And Dashiel isnt the only person making shoe sacrifices for a good cause – ThameNews.net reports British businesswoman Hilary Handley recently ditched her high heels and handbag for a mammoth 80-mile walk of the Dales Way to support community projects in South Africa.
