While the rest of us agonise over which set of high heels to pair with our favourite power suit, Hollywood style queen Katie Holmes took a surprisingly low-maintenance approach to her new job wardrobe.

The actress looked more Joey Potter than Mrs Cruise as she walked into work last week sporting casual low-slung jeans, a vest and summer sandals.

She is currently attending rehearsals in New York for new play All My Sons, which opens in October.

However, the Daily Mail were horrified the theatre hasnt worked any magic on the leading ladys dress sense after she sported a near-identical outfit the following day, just swapping her top and shoes.

The newspaper tutted her new look was "more in keeping with that of a stay-at-home mum than the multi-millionaire wife of Tom Cruise".
