Olympic gold medalist swam for heels
Becky Adlington, the first British female swimmer to bag a gold medal at the Olympics since 1960, has revealed her motivation: a sparkly pair of Louboutin heels.
Her mother initially promised to her shoes of her choice should she qualify for the games and had to stump up £275 for a pair of Louboutin gold heels.
However, now that Adlington is bringing home a gold medal, not only has her mother stepped up the Louboutin offer, but Mansfields town mayor has also promised her some Jimmy Choos.
Speaking from Beijing where she won gold for the 400 metres womens freestyle, Becky Adlington said: "I just love shoes. I have a good 30 in my cupboard".
Britain saw a double victory in the event, as Adlingtons friend Jo Jackson from Yorkshire won the bronze medal.
In her new Louboutins, Adlington will be following in the footsteps of celebrities such as Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Mariah Carey.
