Oddball actress Helena Bonham Carter has been snapped strolling through the streets of London in some rather unusual footwear.

Celebrated for her uniquely dainty features and selection of unusual film roles, Ms Bonham Carter also wore a long velvet coat, a bright pink skirt and a pair of green sunglasses.

The black and white striped socks she partnered with her mushroom-shaped heels could have come from the wardrobe of her Harry Potter character Bellatrix Lestrange.

The actress, who rose to fame as Lucy Honeychurch in 1986 film Room With a View, has two children with gothic film director husband, Tim Burton.

Ms Bonham Carter prides herself on her quirky fashion sense and co-owns the clothes label Pantaloonies with her friend Samantha Sage.

Speaking in a recent interview about her upcoming roles, Ms Bonham Carter admitted she had been cast in the new Terminator film as a “very bad person”.
