Shoe of Chinese Olympian runs up massive price tag
When Chinese gold medal winning Olympian Lin Dan threw his sweat-drenched training shoe into the Beijing crowd, he probably didnt expect it would kick up such a stink.
After the event, a Beijing newspaper appealed to the recipient to step forward and provoked responses from 100 people claiming to have caught the stars footwear.
However, the owner has not yet been identified and some eager fans have offered hefty sums to acquire the shoes for themselves.
One fan keen to foot the bill for the prized item has put forward an offer of 500,000 yuan (£39,325).
Another man claiming to have the shoe said it landed on his head during Dans animated celebration.
This years Olympics has seen its fair share of foot action, as Jamaican Usain Bolt ran his way to a gold medal and broke his own world record earlier this week with his shoelaces untied.
