British animal rights activist Heather Mills has been spotted out and about in New York wearing shoes which would not look out of place on 70s dancefloor.

The former model added extra height to her frame when she stepped out recently in the brawny black wedges.

It is not the first time Mills has waltzed her way into the spotlight – the former wife of musician Paul McCartney took part in US reality show Dancing With the Stars last year.

Mills, who has a four-year-old daughter Beatrice with the ex-Beatle, seemed to be taking the New York heat in her stride as she donned a white top and aviator style sunglasses.

Despite holidaying in New York, this week Mills has been threatened with legal action over her failure to take down a marquee erected in her garden last January during her 40th birthday celebrations.
