American actress Anne Hathaway has opened the closet on her sexy side and stepped out in a pair of heels worthy of a dominatrix.

The star, who made her name in child-friendly movies such as The Princess Diaries and Ella Enchanted, shed her good-girl image at the Toronto International Film Festival promoting her latest project, Rachel Getting Married.

Her choice of footwear was a pair of patent shiny black fetish-type strapped heels, which she twinned with a ladylike puffball black and white spotted dress.

Hathaway is following in the footsteps of British-based actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who sent killer heels flying off the shelves after being snapped in them on several occasions over the summer.

The actress recently split with her Italian boyfriend shortly before he was arrested and charged with fraud.

She has also been in the movie news recently for starring alongside Steve Carell in spy comedy Get Smart, in which she plays a secret agent.
