American presidential candidate John McCains running mate, Sarah Palin has kicked off a craze for glamorous footwear.

Palin, keeping up to speed with the current trend for heels, wore a pair of daring red peep-toe heels while campaigning and has now spurred high demands for the shoe.

Website Amazon has seen sales of the red heels, designed by Naughty Monkey, shoot up by 50 per cent of late.

Jay Randhawa, of Naughty Monkey, said: “The age bracket we target is a little younger. Its a very edgy, very hip, very street brand.”

Paris Hilton has also previously been snapped wearing Naughty Monkey creations.

It seems Ms Palin is blooming into an all-round fashion icon, as sales of eyeglasses similar to hers and wigs emulating her hair style have reportedly been flying off the shelves in America.
