Almost half of women in the UK have purposefully bought shoes and clothes that are too small for them, a new poll has found.

The survey, conducted by Miss Bimbo, found that 49 per cent of women questioned said they had bought clothes that were too small to encourage themselves to slim down.

A further 45 per cent said they had bought shoes which were too small just because they liked them, Female First reported.

Head of the website Chris Evans commented that the fact women buy items which are dont fit them “says a lot about female psychology”.

“The pressure is on to look great all the time. Its hard for some women to walk away from certain items of clothing, even though they know they wont be able to wear them”, he added.
