Sofia Coppola initiated into world of shoe design
Daughter of Godfather director Frances Ford Coppola Sofia has been recruited as a designer by fashion house Louis Vuitton.
Coppola will design a one-off collection of shoes and handbags for the label, which has also recently worked with American painter and photographer Richard Prince and Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo.
The collection will launch in Japan at the beginning of 2009 and will then go on sale in Louis Vuitton outlets across the globe.
Like actress Emma Watson and singer Lily Allen, Coppola is currently perusing the catwalks of Paris Fashion Week - maybe looking for a little inspiration for her new collection.
Following in her famous fathers footsteps, the American celebrity directed the hit film, Lost in Translation, featuring Bill Murray and Scarlet Johansson in 2003.
It seems fashion is a running theme for Coppola lately, as she recently admitted to directing Christian Diors new advertisement for their Miss Dior Cherie perfume.
