Farmers indulge in shindigs for Welly Week
Farmers across England and Wales are giving it some welly to raise funds for a countryside charity as part of a new annual event.
Welly Week, which debuts this year, will see frivolous farmers don their favourite rubber boots for the sake of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (Rabi).
Some of the cash-raising proceedings include wine and cheese evenings in wellies, wild welly parties and boot-related events.
Running from October 11th to the 18th, the week will also see two world record-breaking attempts, including the making of the largest pair of wellies and the longest ever welly conga line.
Those wishing to splash out into the world of wellies can still take part by accessing Rabis website.
In a related celebration of the famed footwear, parishioners of a Northumberland church were encouraged to wear the boots to their weekly service as the reverend pledged to donate £5 for every pair worn, reported the Northumberland Gazette.
