Oz ladies strap on their heels for party fundraiser
Women in Australia are being encouraged to get on the glitter for charity by wearing heels and evening wear for the annual Girls Night In event.
Following its success last year, the Cancer Charity fund raiser, which is to be held at Cairns International Airport, has been expanded this year, proving that girls really do just want to have fun.
The event is to attract an estimated 500 women this year and is set to include a charity auction and fashion parades.
Organiser Karen Jones commented: “Weve had great support from local sponsors and this years event is set to be bigger than last year, with a gorgeous fashion show, plenty of entertainment and the opportunity to win fantastic prizes.”
A total of $11,000 (£4,337) was raised during the 2007 event.
One of Girls Night Ins shoe-related charity counterparts, UKs Welly Week, kicked off on Sunday as farmers and country bumpkins alike came up with innovative ways to raise money using the much-celebrated shoe.
