After working the runway in heels last month during a Paris fashion show, designer Marc Jacobs has explained his motives for pulling on the high footwear.

Its not due to a penchant for ladies accessories, he assured NYmag.com, but rather a wish to understand the fashion dilemmas facing the women he designs for.

The designer showed up the Parisian Louis Vuitton show in heels as well as attending the premiere of Filth and Wisdom this week wearing a skirt.

“I always go nuts when women say oh, men don’t know what its like – women in heels, women in skirts, women in dresses – what its like to suffer for fashion,” he revealed.

Jacobs said embracing his feminine side was a way of trying to tune into womens needs and to sympathise with them.
