It seems Katie Holmes has embraced the fashion for high shoes, kicking aside her flats for a chic pair of heels as she left her New York apartment last night.

The actress, currently starring in an adaptation of Arthur Millers All My Sons on Broadway, has been noted for her love of comfortable clothes of late.

However, she proved she can do glamour as well as the next celebrity in a pair of ribboned stilettos and PVC leggings, reported the Daily Mail.

Taking time off over the last two years to raise her daughter Suri with husband Tom Cruise, Holmes stint on the stage has seen the show rake in a total of $648,002 (£400,929) in the last five weeks.

She also returned to TV screens in October on US show Eli Stone.
