Country singer Keith Urban has failed miserably in his attempt to take actress Nicole Kidman down a peg or two.

The artist decided to try and step out of the shadows cast by his tall wife by wearing a pair of heeled boots at the premiere of her new film Australia in New York last night.

However, the actress, who is 5ft 10ins tall, still beat her husband in the height stakes, reported entertainmentwise.com.

Kidmans black square-toed heels no doubt gave her a slight boost and were matched with a sleeveless gold and black embroidered dress.

Urban went for a traditional, smart black suit and skinny tie to match his footwear.

The singer may be pleased to hear the thoughts of fellow music artist Jarvis Cocker, who this week said men should not try to hide their love for a heeled shoe, but instead use it to enhance their image.
