Why women get bunions
Bunions have long been the enemy of heel-loving ladies everywhere. They can make wearing glamorous shoes uncomfortable and can look unsightly in summer sandals.
However, many women have to live with the problem and one newspaper has offered some answers as to why they form in the first place.
According to the Guardian, women can be more susceptible to bunions if they have elongated big toes or if the main bone in their foot has "a round end".
Wearing shoes that are too tight or having a job that requires standing for long periods of time can aggravate the problem, it adds.
Furthermore, suffering from arthritis or sustaining a foot injury can also contribute to the formation of bunions.
However, this affliction is not the reserve of mere mortals. A source close to Killer heel-lover Victoria Beckham told Closer magazine last month that the celeb wears a corrective splint at night to avoid having surgery.
