A criminal dubbed the Bel-Air burglar has been caught by police in America, it has been reported.

Troy Corsby Thomas is thought to have been at the helm of a gang that has been breaking into celebrity houses for the last few years.

Items such as designer shoes, jewellery and expensive fine wines have been stolen, with the total haul thought to be worth around seven million dollars (£5.1 million).

Among the stars that have had their possessions taken are Duran Durans guitarist John Taylor, socialite heiress Paris Hilton and musician Faith Hill.

"These are very smart criminals. Thats why it took us so long to catch them," stated a spokesman for the police.

According to her former bodyguard, Nicole Richie is another celeb who likes to splash the cash on expensive designer shoes, reported stuff.co.nz.
