The 36-year-old Shakespeare in Love actress abandoned her preened look for a relaxing trip to a London pub with a friend this week.

However, her choice of footwear was a little unusual – she stepped out in a pair of knee-high laced-up rubber boots, reported the Daily Mail.

Maybe the star was taking cautions against the recent bout of snow and wintery weather that has hit the capital.

The mother-of-two recently returned to the acting circuit following the birth of her children and played a significant role in resurrecting killer heels on the red carpet.

This week was not the first time Gwyneth hung up her heels for a spot of respite. In October, she stepped out for the London Film Festival in a pair of flat sandals as she revealed that she had hurt her knee while "just being silly".
