A top fashion guru has claimed that a good pair of shoes is essential for a man if he wants to look good.

Clothes designer Jeff Banks was in Glasgow offering male make-overs recently and spoke to the Daily Record about how men can update their style.

He believes that it is not just women who like to step out in the latest trends when it comes to footwear and a lot can be told about a man by what he is wearing on his feet.

Offering some tips, Mr Banks said: “They should always be clean and polished and go with whatever outfit they are wearing.

“When you look down and see bad shoes on a man then everything else you might have thought about the way he looks goes out the window.”

Another star who keeps a watchful eye on male footwear is Keira Knightley, who has previously said that she would only go out with a man if he wore good shoes.
