Ecko Red founder honoured by university
The man behind the Ecko Red brand has been honoured by a university in the US.
Marc Ecko, the designer and owner of the Ecko fashionshoes brand, was presented with an honorary degree from Rutgers University on Wednesday, MyCentralJersey.com reports.
Mr Ecko was also the guest speaker at the commencement ceremony – which took place in sweltering heats of between 76 and 83 degrees F.
Along with the Ecko Red brand, Mr Ecko has masterminded labels Ecko Unltd, Marc Ecko Cut & Sew and Ecko Kids. His connection with Rutgers goes back to the early 1990s, when he studied at the universitys College of Pharmacy.
He was not the only famous face to be present at the event, however. Author and artists Faith Ringgold also received an honorary degree, as did world-renowned saxophonist Theodore Sonny Rollins.
In related news, Warner Brothers and DC Comics have announced Ecko as a partner for a new range of clothing and accessories inspired by the Batman series.
