Collector reveals his love of Nike trainers
One man has revealed the truth about his shoe obsession and how much he would really pay to get his hands on an exclusive pair of Nike trainers.
Speaking to CNN.com, Juan Castaneda, 27, says that as he was growing up he always longed to have the trainers his friends were wearing but could not afford them.
Now he is able to finance his passion, he tells the news provider that he owns around 200 pairs of trainers.
One of these is a pair of Nike Air Jordan XIs with patent-leather trim. Called Space Jams, they cost Mr Castaneda $500 (£314).
Elliott Curtis, a former Carnegie Mellon University basketball player, told the same news provider that fans such as this are often called Sneakerheads.
“Its like a status symbol. If Nike is selling a shoe for $2,000, theyre not expecting to sell that many,” he explained.
Rapper Kayne West is known for his love of trainers and has previously collaborated with Nike to produce his own pair.
