Adidas Originals and Lucasfilms have announced a collaboration on a new line of Star Wars-inspired trainers and garments.

The news – which is sure to create a buzz among trainers geeks and film buffs alike – brings to a climax what Ben Pruess, Adidas Originals vice-president of product marketing, describes as "an exciting process".

He said that the collaboration – which will see both mass distribution and limited edition models go on sale – brings together two brands that have left "an indelible mark on pop culture".

"For fans of the films, sneaker heads or those that love fun and fresh designs, the collection gives you the chance to find the force or join the dark side," continued Mr Pruess.

The spring-summer Star Wars collection will be up for grabs from January 2010.

Adidas Originals line recreates many of the brands iconic trainers for todays market, with classics such as Stan Smith, Samba, Campus and Gazelle remaining popular decades after their first issue.
