Timberland launches “Depression-chic” shoes for women
A new premium range of boots has been launched for women by Timberland.
Traditionally known for creating urban streetwear for men, the firm has now decided to target females with its new collection.
Boasting modern silhouettes that have been inspired by the traditional menswear range, the collection has been finished with a feminine edge.
Delicate cues also “evoke stories in which shoes were mended and embellished over time” and the autumn collection has a strong, well worn feel to it.
The detailing is whimsical with pieces of ribbon and patches of leather on interesting fabric, “all materials a woman of the Depression era uses to repair or update her shoes“.
It is this “Depression-chic”, that the manufacturer is keen to develop, as Christopher Pawlus, Timberlands senior creative director for womenswear, said that “the collection is designed to reflect the utilitarian, well-crafted footwear that was worn during this period”.
Another new product being launched by Timberland is the Earthkeeper 2.0 boot, which is part of its green collection.
