Basketball player Dwyane Wade has joined one of footwear designer Nikes premium brands of shoes.

The All Star guard and Olympic champion has been signed to Nikes golden list of Team Jordan athletes, all of whom have been handpicked by sporting idol Michael Jordan and are said to represent the attitudes that motivated the success of the man himself.

Fellow All Stars Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Derek Jeter are also members of the team.

Wade described the move to Nike division Jordan Brand as a dream come true. “As a kid, I grew up on the south side of Chicago idolising Michael Jordan and have worked hard to achieve the same success that hes had on the court,” he said.

Jordan also expressed delight at Wades having joined “the Team Jordan family”.

Meanwhile, sporting franchise Miami Heat wasted no time in attempting to persuade Wade to extend his contract with them earlier this week.
