Jeremy Vine: I was the first west Londoner to wear Crocs
Jeremy Vine has jokingly claimed that he was the first person in west London to wear Crocs shoes.
Despite admitting that he sometimes finds fashion “ridiculous”, the 44-year-old, who presents Radio 2s The Jeremy Vine Show on weekdays, said that wearing Crocs in the capital was the first time he had ever been at the cutting edge of fashion.
“They were sent to me from a friend in a town in America where Crocs are made locally,” the journalist told the Guardian.
“Im still wearing them.”
Vine, who joined BBC2s Newsnight 10 years ago, disclosed a number of fashion mistakes which he committed during his teens, such as flared trousers and t-shirts inspired by punk bands such as Theatre of Hate.
In related news, Crocs shoes were described as “indestructible” by the Guardian last month, which praised the simple functionality of the hard-wearing clogs and urged customers to purchase a pair.
