New Crocs shoes are “very appealing”
Shoe company Crocs has begun to create some new compelling styles of shoes which are “very appealing”, the firm believes.
Shares in the company – known for its brightly-coloured plastic clogs for men, women and children – rose 28 per cent in the second quarter of this year.
John Duerden, Crocs chief executive, dismissed claims that the vibrant resin shoes, which reached the pinnacle of fashion circa 2005, were little more than a fad.
“There are those out there who have written us off,” he told Reuters.
“This quarters results financially, operationally and qualitatively show that this company and the brand are still very much alive.”
Crocs is reported to be once again nurturing relationships with retailers that sell the shoes in both Europe and the US.
Meanwhile, one famous fan of the hard-wearing shoes has come out of shadows.
BBC journalist Jeremy Vine joked to the Guardian that he was the first person to wear the shoes in west London.
