Trainers brand Nike has announced the opening of registrations for this years Nike+ Human Race.

Now in its second year, the 10 km worldwide event drew almost 780,000 participants last year to celebrate the sport of running by giving amateur athletes the chance to run together.

More than 24 cities across the world, including New York, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires and Rome will host Human Race events on October 24th.

With race registration opening last week, runners are able to participate in one of several scheduled events or choose to run where they are on race day by using the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit and logging a 10 km run that day.

The day the event takes place is also exciting for what Nike claims to be its most inventive LeBron James signature collection shoes yet, as the trainers – which were launched at a global media summit in Akron, Ohio – will be available from October 24th.
