Patent and metallic leathers top trend for back-to-school
The most stylish nursery tots and best-dressed primary school students will be wearing highly-glossed looks – such as Clarks shoes – for school this September, one fashion expert has suggested.
Linda McLean, fashion director at Junior magazine, which contains childrens fashion suggestions, said that “patent or metallic leathers are the top trend” for the autumn season.
Her comments follow the publication of research by Asda last week, which put the cost of the average childs school uniform at £282.
“Trainers are a non-starter. Lots of the younger children wear them but they dont provide the kind of support the nursery-age child needs,” advised Ms McLean.
The news comes after a report by Sheilas Wheels home insurance revealed that one in five parents spend between £500 and £1,000 a year in order to keep a single child in the latest clothes and accessories, which includes branded trainers and accessories.
