Trainers brand Nike announces leadership changes
Trainers and sportswear brand Nike has announced an important change to its management personnel.
Jim Allaker, currently vice-president and general manager of Nike UK and Ireland, will become the new chief executive and president of company subsidiary and Manchester-based firm Umbro, to be succeeded in his role by Marc van Pappelendam.
Eunan McLaughlin, president of the Nike Affiliates, said that Mr Allaker has been very successful in leading the business in the UK and Ireland, which are two important markets for Umbro.
"Umbro has a tremendous opportunity for growth and I believe, with Jims leadership, we will continue to grow the brand and connect with football fans worldwide," he said.
Mr van Pappelendam was promoted to his new position after working as the vice-president and general manager of the region that covers central and Eastern Europe.
He is said to be a proven leader who will drive continued growth for the British market.
