A Sikh reporter who threw a Reebok running shoe at an Indian government official has spoken out about the motivation for his actions.

Jarnail Singh, 36, threw the white trainer at Indias home minister, Palaniappan Chidambaram, just four months after two shoes were tossed at George W Bush in Baghdad last year.

Mr Singh claims that he did not plan to make the move and was merely hoping to highlight a wrong committed several years ago.

“It just happened,” he told the Toronto Star. “I dont know how it came to this.”

The reporter was due to be honoured at last weekends annual Spinning Wheel Festival in Toronto, Canada.

In related news, Reebok recently unveiled its new iPhone application, which allows users to design their own trainers and order them.
