Chunky work boots are set to be a big fashion trend this winter and two pairs of Dr Martens boots have been selected for one newspapers top ten.

Sun journalist Nicky Harley claims that heavy-duty boots are a great way to dress-down a feminine outfit and give women an edgier style.

She uses Fearne Cotton as an example of how to carry off this particular winter trend.

In her list of the top ten boots on offer on the high street, Ms Harley has picked two Dr Martens styles – a classic design in black suede with the trademark yellow stitching around the sole and a lace-up, calf-high model in striking pewter.

Other brands to make it into her selection include Moda in Pelle and Caterpillar.

The Moda in Pelle boots in navy feature buckle detail with studded straps around the ankle, while the Caterpillar boots in brown leather are an example of a simple style.
