But now it seems at least one man is getting to know what it feels like, as actor Ben Richards has to sport the footwear for his role in Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

The former Holby City and The Bill actor has taken over the lead role of Tick from Jason Donovan and told the Metro that he had been practising wearing them in his spare time.

But the towering shoes have worked wonders on his calves, with an expert telling him that his legs were looking really good as a result of donning the stilettos.

He added that he looked like "Bambi on Ice" when he first put them on, but has now learned to walk confidently in them.
