As the weather turns colder a pair of lace-up boots could be the perfect item to make the transition from summer to winter footwear, says Tess Daly.

The TV presenter and former model wrote in her Daily Mirror column that this season she is "counting on the help of a simple shoe – a lace-up shoe boot to be precise" to make sure she looks stylish and still has a practical design of footwear for when the wet and cold weather starts to hit.

But finding that perfect balance has proven to be a hard task for the Strictly Come Dancing presenter, as getting the right heel height is the most important aspect.

Tess noted that a high heel will look too dressy, yet one that is too low would feel too clumpy for her.
