Natalie Portman had vegan shoes made especially for her when she appeared in a recent promotional campaign.

The actress has just been named as the new face of a perfume range and has to wear clothing from the brand in the campaigns, WWD.com reported.

However, as she is a strict vegan, she refused to wear any designs which had been made using animal products, resulting in the fashion label creating new vegan shoes for her.

She explained that the brand " made all of the shoes for me with no animals and no leather or anything, because I don't wear any leather".

Portman added to the website that it was important for her to be able to wear shoes "without taking lives".
